Walter Willett is Professor of Epidemiology and Nutrition and Chairman of the Department of Nutrition at Harvard School of Public Health & Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He has published over 1,700 original research papers and reviews on lifestyle risk factors for heart disease, cancer, and other conditions, and he is the most cited nutritionist internationally.  He has written the textbook, Nutritional Epidemiology, published by Oxford University Press and four books for the general public, including the best seller “Eat, Drink and be Healthy. The Harvard Medical School Guide to Healthy Eating”.  He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and the recipient of many national and international awards for his research.

Dr. Willett is also the lead author for one of the most comprehensive and science-based documents describing the intricate connections between a healthy diet, sustainable food systems and planetary health, a report published in the journal Lancet in 2019: Food in the Anthropocene: The EAT-Lancet Commission on Healthy Diets from Sustainable Food Systems.
